Whats more prevelant in the world, happiness or sorrow? And is happiness merely lack of sorrow? Whats worse, not knowing what happiness is or knowing and not being happy?
1. I have no clue. 2. No. Both can even co-exist. 3. You know happiness when you have it. Speculation is futile. So the question seems incorrect to me.
Tragedy is that more often than not past always looks happier and better. And if you're on 4 now, it means you are happy. But if the fact that there is a 10 also ( and you how it feels like) is bothering you; it means you are not happy.
Happiness levels when compared doesn't make anyone unhappy. They only make you nostalgic (probably)... and nostalgia isn't all that bad afterall.
Born in Udaipur, brought up in Jaipur, studying in Bombay, destined to be a billionaire I am the confused, simple, straightforward guy who has the big dreams, no clue as to how they are gonna come true but the belief that they would.

3. say you are at 4 all your life and then taken for a trip to 10 and then pushed back to 4
Initially when at 4 you were oblivious to the existance of 10 and were managing anyways. now you know there is a 10 and you know its out of reach.
So were you better off remaining at 4 itself or is it good you atleast experienced 10, even if it were for a flash?

Greed. :)
p(nostalgia)<0.3
is p(nostalgia) + p(unhappiness) = 1 ?
and can you really use the derogatory word (greed) for one's desire to just be happy?
ps: don't bother about the anonimity
But what else is greed?
The context we are talking in, I'd say "Yes, the p(nostalgia) + p(unhappiness) = 1"
Ofcourse one can differ with me on what nostalgia is. In that case my answer will be "suit yourself, I'm easy".

Such a pain it is :(
no wonder they say ignorance is bliss :)
the question that follows is what do you when the ignorance is lost
Aaah.. now you are venturing into dangerous terrains. We will talk about it when I head back home and have oodles and doodles of time at my disposal.
I feel sorrow is lack of happiness. You may want to consider that option.
